I am a psychotherapist in Boulder, Colorado and have spent my career working with people to find solutions, move towards recovery and create positive change in their lives. My focus is helping you to figure out the path forward to improve your quality of life. That might mean finding emotional stability, processing trauma, creating personal growth, or improving relationships. I have worked with college students, both undergraduate and graduate students, for the last 10 years at the University of Colorado Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) doing individual, group and couples therapy. Upon starting private practice, I intentionally found an office close to campus as I hoped to continue working with students. I love working with students on the challenges that come up in college and grad school such as adjusting to college and academic stress, processing issues that you may have hoped to leave at home, or working through new experiences or traumas that are causing distress. I seek to provide my clients with a safe and non-judgmental space in order to move towards emotional health and stability. I specialize in EMDR trauma therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness based treatments to help with trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders and feeling stuck in life.
It takes courage to ask for help; you have already taken the first step. Life throws us situations we don't anticipate or have encountered before and we need help getting through. You are here because you or someone you care about is in pain. You have come to the right place. We have all had those times when we need someone besides family and friends to talk to. People come to me for a variety of reasons: anxiety and depression, adjusting to the college transition, relationship problems, family issues, emotional and social struggles, rebuilding self-esteem, teen difficulties, general life transitions, and personal growth. I have great success in helping individuals, couples and families overcome their difficulties and unresolved issues that are affecting their day-to-day lives. I assist people in gaining insight as to what issues may be causing them anguish and making changes that are within their control. I genuinely care for the well-being of my clients and work hard to find creative ways to help them achieve their goals and find peace in their lives. *Please feel free to call and ask for additional information about my practice or visit my website @ www.susancaso.com.
I am happy to work with clients struggling to overcome a variety of issues. My specialties include: anxiety, depression, and trauma, grief and loss. Meditation practices from both Thich Nhat Hanh and Shambhala traditions inform my therapeutic approach.

Feeling overwhelmed, behind, anxious, unsure, or like you’re constantly juggling too much? College can bring intense pressure to perform, stay productive, and have a plan—often while managing relationships, family expectations, finances, and questions about who you’re becoming. Even when things are going well academically or socially, many students carry a quiet sense of stress, self-doubt, or disconnection that’s hard to put into words. College is often referred to as the “best years of your life,” yet it’s also a time of major transition and identity formation. You may be making important decisions about your future while still figuring out what you value, what you want, and how to trust yourself. It’s common to feel stuck, anxious, or alone during this period—especially when it seems like everyone else is more confident or has things figured out. How We’ll Work Together I pay close attention to the tension many young adults feel between the part of them seeking stability and the part longing for meaning. It’s common to feel torn between wanting security—a solid job, steady relationships, a clear plan—and wanting a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and alive. In our work, we’ll explore this inner conflict with curiosity rather than judgment and find a way forward that integrates both of these core desires. Many young adults also carry a quiet sense of “I should be further along by now,” shaped by family expectations, social comparison, and cultural pressure. Together, we’ll slow down these narratives and build a relationship to yourself that’s based on honesty, compassion, and your actual needs—not someone else’s timeline. We’ll explore patterns in your relationships, clarify your values, likes, and dislikes, and build skills that help you move through the world with more confidence and ease. Therapy becomes a place to practice new ways of relating: setting boundaries, being more authentic, understanding your emotional patterns, and building healthier relationships. We’ll look at where your values, instincts, and longings are trying to guide you, and how to make choices that align with who you’re becoming.

Above all, I want you to feel empowered to explore, to question, and to grow. The Kairos Wellness Collective is committed to delivering quality holistic care for clients experiencing, but not limited to, OCD and Anxiety. The Kairos Wellness Collective believes in treating the whole person --- mind, body, and spirit. OCD and Anxiety Disorders have magnified in our community since our small city has been stressed by the pandemic, the fires, and King Soopers shootings. Each client has their own unique struggles and a distinct road to recovery. Rather than ask our clients to bounce around individual offices for their care, our center aims to bring practitioners together in a holistic space that both honors client confidentiality but also streamlines communication between practitioners by using shared health records software. Client care specialists take baseline assessments of OCD upon intake into the collective, and every two months, our specialists will continue to assess measurable progress in the treatment of OCD and anxiety. Kairos Wellness Collective features diverse modalities including Chinese Medicine, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy and Coaching (KAP & KAC), Yoga Therapy, Play Therapy, Forest Bathing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family Therapy. While utilizing diverse approaches, all approaches featured at the center are evidence-based treatments for OCD and Anxiety disorders. We specialize in treating the college-age population and look forward to supporting you to your optimal mental health during this pivotal time in your lives!
I believe that what many of us desire most is a richness of connection - to ourselves, the ones we love, and the natural world around us. In my own experience, therapy offered a path forward, helping me cultivate a secure attachment within myself during a time that felt totally chaotic. Healing took place through being in the presence of a warm and compassionate guide, who could shine a light for me on possibility when I felt stuck in my same patterns. Many of my clients are seeking this: a guided opportunity to embrace their Whole Self so that they can find more presence, meaning and joy in their relationships and in their lives. My approach is collaborative and personalized, drawing upon my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and mindfulness-based modalities. I also enjoy working with the Enneagram, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. I believe that self inquiry and transformation is a patient process that requires courage, tenderness, honesty, and oftentimes a sense of humor. What I offer is more than a 60 minute session, but an invitation to step into a new way of being inside and outside of our time together. Want to chat more? I offer 20-minute complimentary consultation calls.

My work rests on a profound respect for the human capacity to change as well as a deep appreciation of the impact of emotional pain on the process of living. This perspective emerged from my 25+ years in practice, my formal training, my work at psychiatric hospitals and other facilities, my experience as a supervisor and a teacher, and a life lived as a member of the human species. Although my approach depends on the needs of each individual, I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the foundation for psychotherapy and a window into the client's other relationships, both historical and contemporary. I adopt a collaborative approach to create a safe space in which there is respect for the ways in which individuals have learned to cope with traumatic and painful experiences. Rather than pathologize these currently anachronistic survival strategies, I help clients understand them as creative attempts to cope that may have outlived their usefulness. believe that choosing the right therapist is more than just a matter of credentials and experience. I believe it involves finding someone with whom you have the right "fit." For this reason, I offer initial appointments that are free of charge if you decide not to work with me. I welcome your inquiries.
