As a marriage and family therapist, the clients I work best with tend to share a few key characteristics. Many of them are looking for ways to improve their relationships, whether that means addressing issues with a spouse, family members, or even themselves. They often feel stuck or overwhelmed by the challenges they’re facing and are looking for guidance in creating healthier, more fulfilling connections. If you’re someone who wants to better understand yourself and your relationships, or if you’re facing communication struggles, trust issues, or simply trying to navigate life changes, my practice might be a great fit for you. You don’t have to go through these challenges alone — many people come to therapy seeking support in learning how to communicate more effectively, heal from past hurts, or find balance in their lives. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are motivated to make changes and improve their relationships. If you’re open to learning new tools and strategies to strengthen your connections with others, we might be a great match! Together, we’ll explore your experiences and find ways to move forward in a healthy, positive direction.

My clients struggle like you do They got good at going it alone so they’ve gone it alone (or at least it feels that way sometimes.) They’re the people who want to feel in control and powerful, but instead they’re left bearing the weight of the world and have no idea where to start to find their way out from under it. They feel like a ticking time bomb. It looks to the rest of the world that they’ve got it all together, meanwhile they’re left thinking, “oh but if they knew the real me…” You don’t have to live inside this cloud of shame. You don’t have to live forever with the weight of your own self doubt.

College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.

I strive to be real, relatable, and easy to talk to, offering support that is genuine and compassionate. Together, we’ll navigate your challenges at a pace that feels right for you, working toward clarity, healing, and personal growth

Hi! My name is Katie (she/her), and I’m excited to work together. My goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and free to open up at your own pace. I believe our experiences—past and present—shape the way we think, feel, and move through life. By exploring and validating your thoughts and emotions, we can start to untangle patterns, make sense of what feels overwhelming, and work toward healing. I’m here to support you whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, grief, body dysmorphia, sexual and gender identity issues, relationship/work stress, and/or chronic illness. Finding the right words to express what you’re feeling isn’t always easy, and that’s okay. Sessions are tailored to what feels right for you. We’ll draw from psychodynamic, somatic, creative arts, and other trauma-informed approaches. Empathy, warmth, and humor are central to my practice, creating a space where you can explore and grow. Currently, I’m an MSW student at Yeshiva University in New York City and hold an MA in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. I look forward to meeting you! -- Katie Colton is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health.
