There is a part of me that feels extremely anxious. There is a part of me that gets really sad and down at times. There is a part of part of me that can hardly get out of bed some days. There is a part of me that needs to take care of everyone and everything. There is a part of me that wants to check out and escape from all the responsibilities I have. There is a part of me that thinks about dying and a part of me that wants to live. There is a part of me that …. How many times have we all had these feelings or thoughts that come over us that seem conflicting at times but represent how we are feeling in the moment. Understanding our parts even those that are contradictory, being able to validate and accept our parts, and creating balance and space for our parts mentally can be attained through therapy. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is designed to allow us to heal from our pain, hurt, and fears by managing the parts that have been created out of our traumas. We have all experienced trauma in some form, and we all have parts that have been borne from those traumas. Parts that help us manage our daily lives and parts that may tend to disrupt our lives, but all of these parts are valid and serve some self-protective purpose and can be managed once they are understood. My name is Amanda Schneider and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences and then obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work from Valdosta State University. I am currently under supervision, supervised by Adina Tucker LCSW, while I work to obtain my LCSW. Life transitions can be challenging whether you’re adjusting to a new phase, managing anxiety, moving through grief, facing relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck. I work with adults and teenagers (13+) who are navigating these complexities, offering a grounded space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported. Therapy is unique to each person and together, we will explore what works best for you. In a safe space, we will explore your strengths, goals, and experiences in order to find healing and growth. My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and centered on helping you reconnect with yourself. Together, we’ll focus on building self-esteem, practicing self-compassion, and recognizing your own strengths especially in moments when those things feel hard to access. With a background in hospice care, I have experience working with individuals and families navigating chronic illness, death, and the grief that comes with those experiences. I’ve also worked with older adults navigating anxiety, depression, isolation, and aging related issues. These experiences shaped the way I show up as a therapist and I strive to offer a space where you feel safe to be yourself and talk through your true thoughts and feelings. Starting therapy isn’t always easy, and it’s okay to feel unsure about where to begin. I’m here to walk alongside you as you move toward healing, reconnect with a sense of purpose, and build skills that support you long after our work together.

Hello! My name is C Durden (she/her/hers), and I work at the Getting Real Counseling Center. A little bit about GRCC: Getting Real Counseling Center provides individual and relational counseling services to those who need it most. Our practice is a safe space to talk through your daily struggles and unlock your true potential. We pride ourselves in offering a place to talk without interruption, judgement, and perception of others getting in your way. Talk therapy can help you identify what you really want and need, help uncover the values and beliefs that drive you, your relationships, and your world view. Specialties: Our practice is happy to address anything that you believe is holding you back from living your best life, but we specialize in services catered to eating disorders (ED) and body image, LGBTQ+ issues, self-injury, trauma (emotional, physical, and religious), neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism Spectrum), kink, ethical non-monogamy (ENM), and relationships. Getting Real Counseling Center is the perfect place to talk and get assistance in developing a plan to change your life for the better. A little bit about me specifically: When you and I are in the room together, my goal is for you to be able to be your authentic self—including all of the grit, messiness, and beauty that comes with it. I work from an integrated perspective that incorporates narrative, feminist, queer, and existential lenses, but I am also able to adapt my methods to bring in other tools to best serve the specific issues at hand. I believe in a balance of compassion and challenge when working with clients. The challenge is that this is vulnerable work—it can be scary, harder before it gets easier, but I don’t expect you to work alone. You and I will work together, and there is no topic that is too big or too taboo for this space. I will strive to cultivate a trusting relationship between us so that you feel safe bringing in whatever you need to. My passion areas include sex therapy, gender identity work, grief and loss, and navigating interpersonal relationships. While I am open to working with all clients, the communities I love to center on include LGBTQIA+ communities, older adults, men and masculine of center clients, kink communities, and non-monogamous clients. My wish is for us to feel big emotions together, and face what we need to head on. Often in my sessions, there can be crying, but there can also be laughter, a good amount of swearing (if you’re comfortable!), and the shared wonder of growth. I am excited to potentially join you on your journey, and cannot wait to get to know you! I take Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna insurance.

At Soul Sprout Mindful Care, we are dedicated to helping you and your family achieve Mental Health. We believe that Mental Health is just as important as physical health, and we treat it as such. We are committed to providing therapeutic services including individual outpatient therapy, family outpatient therapy, and couples outpatient therapy. A therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan, with interventions tailored specifically to your needs. We believe that you should be heard, and we take supporting you very seriously. In the African American community, we are haunted by intergenerational trauma that shapes how we view and operate within the world. By increasing the frequency with which people of color pursue therapy, we work to break the cycle of trauma and aid you in beginning a new family tradition of mental health. We are honored to work to be a part of this change! Our number one priority is the health and safety of our clients. We're working to provide telehealth services via zoom during this COVID crisis.
Many of the students I work with are dealing with anxiety, stress, sadness, imposter syndrome, or self-doubt. Some are managing heavy academic loads while also worrying about their future. Others are trying to balance school with family expectations, friendships, and romantic relationships. Many feel like they’re supposed to "have it all together" but deep down feel lost, stuck, or just exhausted from trying so hard. In our work together, we focus on giving you a place where you don’t have to perform or pretend. Therapy is a place where you can be honest about what’s hard, get support in making sense of it, and start finding ways to feel more grounded, more confident, and more in charge of your own life — without the pressure to be perfect.
