Hello; My name is Shane Blasko. I am a Licensed Psychologist. The style of therapy that I utilize is compassion-based interpersonal therapy, which is based on the idea that the relationship between a person and their therapist is extremely important. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy; it is an important relationship through which we can heal from past traumas, work through life transitions, learn to communicate more effectively, and learn to manage disruptive symptoms through learning more effective ways of coping, and understanding why we cope the way we do. I believe that it is important for therapists to try to understand the different contexts that each client is coming from; this means that I am dedicated to learning more about how each client experiences the world, and makes sense of it. I believe that each individual is unique, and that part of the job of the therapist is to try to understand how the client makes meaning of their experiences, and to assist the client with their goals.

I find myself often working with high-achieving folks who have been thrown one too many curve balls in life. Whether it's a life transition, a break up, overwhelm with work, stress with family members, or a death, these folks find themselves at the end of their rope and needing to find a pressure-release valve.

Life is all about relationships. Relationships with ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. While relationships can often bring us great joy, they can also sometimes generate feelings of anxiety, depression, and uncertainty. Through our therapeutic partnership, I will help you build the skills to better manage these disruptive feelings and gain insight into your behaviors, ultimately allowing you to find balance and fulfillment. I work with individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds and take particular interest in women’s issues such as empowerment and identity. My environment is safe and inclusive, allowing you to feel comfortable exploring yourself. I believe each person comes to therapy with a unique set of experiences and expectations, therefore, I customize my therapeutic approach to meet your needs while also offering new perspectives. It would be a privilege to be a part of your journey, helping you and your relationships reach their greatest potential.

At times, life is overwhelming. Relationships are challenging. Situations are hard. We are not always responsible for or in control of everything that happens to us. We all have signature strengths to help us get through challenges but many times we are not aware of these strengths or we are unable to access them. My approach draws upon interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths assessment, and mindfulness. Together we will take realistic and supportive action to approach change and growth including: *increase awareness of your feelings and actions; *buffer against, manage, and overcome problems; *improve relationships and communication; and *understand and utilize your personal strengths. I provide a safe space with humor, compassion, and understanding. There’s no room for judgment or unrealistic expectations. I am easy to talk to and dedicated to your well-being. My office is close to Emory Campus at the corners of Clairmont and N. Decatur Roads. At this time I am doing telehealth and in-person services.

I work with individuals who may be successful in many areas of life but still struggle to understand and manage their emotions, especially as they navigate difficult life transitions or deal with symptoms of depression and anxiety. In our work together, we will explore how you relate to others and how you may relate to the world, as well as examine underlying thought patterns and how those might influence your emotions and your behaviors. I also offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for concussion / traumatic brain injury, attentional disorders, and other neurological conditions.

I work with individuals and couples in Georgia who are seeking support for various mental health challenges. Many of my clients have difficulties related to anxiety, depression, and past trauma that get in the way of enjoying life and thriving to their fullest potential. I also work with people who are diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and related conditions. The foundation of my therapy is a collaborative relationship based on warmth and acceptance. I look beyond the mental health “condition” and seek to understand you as a person, influenced by your identities and past experiences. I will work collaboratively with you to develop goals for therapy and a plan to attain those goals. I provide a tailored therapy experience by utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, emotion-focused couples therapy, and the Gottman Method. Overall, I seek to empower you with the skills to live a meaningful life based on your personal goals and values. Whether you are interested in individual therapy or couples counseling, I am looking forward to connecting with you and working together to create the change you are seeking. Feel free to visit my webpage to learn more about me and my work!

You feel the pressure to be in control all the time…with food, relationships, your job, your appearance. You may be fed up with melting down over a picture of yourself, feeling like you can’t stop thinking about food no matter what you do, or feeling hopeless that things will ever get better. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to go clothes shopping without fear. You’re ready to start spending time with friends again. Most of all, you’re ready to feel fulfilled and have the life you want. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who “gets” it, because therapy should be a place where you feel safe and supported to explore the roots of your relationship with food and body. Sessions with me are interactive and collaborative, and we always go at your pace, never pushing to a place you don’t feel ready to be. As an experienced eating disorder therapist, I believe that all women deserve to have permission (from themselves) to live full and empowered lives. You don’t have to keep feeling like a failure because your body has changed, and you don’t have to do it alone. Reach out today for a free 15-minute consultation. I can’t wait to hear from you.

A licensed psychologist, I received both my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and my M.S. in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. When faced with difficult situations, we often feel discouraged. I believe that a safe, supportive environment is key to growth, and I offer plenty of encouragement. I help clients gain perspective through empathic exploration. We’re all doing the best we can in life, but sometimes we get in our own way. As much as I’m comfortable with deep emotions, I also believe in the importance of bringing laughter and humor into the room!
