Either way, having a professional you can talk things through with, will help you identify the whats, understand the whys, and process through the hows. You are not alone, and going through the therapy process will empower you to feel more capable of facing your challenges, and create healthy, sustainable change for the future!

As a counselor, I believe my role is to come alongside you in this journey, providing you with a warm and supportive space in which we can work together. My goal is to empower you to gain insight, align your life to your values, build new skills, and find a holistic sense of balance in life. My approach to counseling involves integrating techniques from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapy. I also offer faith-based, Christian counseling for those who desire to integrate Biblical truth and beliefs into their therapeutic journey.

Being in college can be challenging and stressful in many ways. You encounter so many new things that you've never had to do or deal with in your life before. The things that are familiar are now so much more intensified. For some, this leaves them feeling depressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. You can feel like a boat being tossed around in high swells during a raging storm. I like helping people make sense of what is going on, learn ways to calm the storm and steer their life, and become more confident to meet challenges they encounter. My approach is that we are a team. I have the training and knowledge to guide this journey, but you are the one who leads the way. If you would like to learn more about my background and types of therapies I use, please visit my website at www.balancedlifecsllc.com or call me at 317-742-9771 for a free 15 minute "meet and greet". I offer in-person and virtual sessions (as long as you are in the state of Indiana where I am licensed). I have my practice hours listed but am flexible if you need to meet outside of them.

The mission of Restore & Recover is to provide confidential and person-specific therapy to those struggling with a variety of issues that modern life brings. Since 1999, I have been working in the social services field. During the past 25 years, mental health and addictions treatment has changed dramatically. This has taught me that there is no "One Size Fits All" treatment style. After receiving my Masters degree from Indiana University in 2006, I was given the opportunity to work in one of Indianapolis' inner city hospitals. I have always accredited this time in my life as being where I truly learned how to be a therapist. After time spent there, I moved into a more specialized role in addictions treatment. As well as a leadership role in Hamilton County with a local community mental health agency and then moved into my private practice career. I am not the most traditional therapist. I am laid back while also direct. My hope is that when you enter my office you feel at-home, having a comfortable chat with a friend while receiving the benefits of a skilled clinician. When providing any treatment, but especially substance abuse treatment, I believe strongly that my role is not to tell you what to do, but to help motivate you to make the changes you know you need. I believe that there are many roads that can get us to the destination we desire. I hope to help guide you there as quickly and painlessly as possible. I provide evidence-based treatment for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, trauma, adjustment disorders, stress management, addictions (including Suboxone maintenance) as well as court-ordered treatment. I have worked with those in the LGBTQ+- community through out entire career. I also provide substance abuse assessments for both court-ordered clients as well as EAP.

We all need someone to talk to at times, and I have dedicated my career to being that person for others. As a LCSW, I have over 6 years of experience. I enjoy working with teens and young adults to help with problems adjusting to life’s changes, relationship issues, unhealthy boundaries with family, friends and/or others, and poor self-esteem and self-worth. One of my aims is to build a compassionate and relaxed environment for clients to open up and collaborate to realize and accomplish goals. A large part of my practice has been in the treatment of grief and loss, trauma and healing, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. We will work using different techniques such as, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I like to build on strengths that patients already possess but may not see. My style is laid back and client centered. I have a strong sense of compassion and commitment to helping others and understand that, for some, beginning counseling may be a difficult decision. I will meet you where you are to get you where you want to be. Let’s work together to improve life and start thriving!

My favorite part of therapy is talking things out with an empathic therapist and then returning to session the following week and sharing how my new knowledge/strategy/skill worked out for me. I am happy to suggest goals, ideas, strategies, skills, or resources depending on your need. Or I am happy to listen to you while you work out your own thoughts & feelings.

We can't always decide what happens to us in life, but we can choose what we do about it. I love working with clients who are open to building trust, ready to begin exploring, and want to create change. You don't have to have it all figured out right now, I would be honored to share space with you and start the process of rediscovering yourself. I have the most experience working with self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, difficult family relationships, romantic relationship stressors, gender identity, and sexuality. I want to learn what makes you unique, help you build trust in yourself, and help you reclaim your life narrative. My passion is in learning people's stories. I use trauma-informed techniques to look at the context of our lives, and together we can forge a new path forward towards the life you find most fulfilling. I draw from narrative therapy to learn about your story, and I use EMDR to help reprocess our experiences.

Are there times when you cannot shut off your worried thoughts? Is the adjustment to college more difficult than you imagined? I am trauma informed and will look at how your thoughts impact your emotions, which impact your behaviors. I believe in the mind-body connection and, depending on your needs, will weave in mindfulness and somatic practices during our work together. I use an affirming lens while tailoring my approach to the holistic needs and pace of each individual. I have been practicing therapy for over 20 years and the past seven years have been in a college counseling setting.

Do you find yourself struggling with negative beliefs or finding it difficult to let go of past experiences? I specialize in helping college students navigate the unique challenges and transitions that come with academic life. Whether you're dealing with stress from classes, anxiety about the future, relationship issues, or personal struggles, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. College is an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming. The pressure to succeed academically, socially, and personally can take a toll on your mental health. I’m here to help you develop coping strategies, manage stress, and gain clarity on what’s most important to you. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, and CBT. I like to use somatic interventions to help clients reprocess traumatic memories, explore their inner emotional landscape and work through beliefs that can become stuck points in traditional talk therapy. You can expect to gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and the parts that make up your personality, relief from symptoms, and increased emotional resilience.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have over 9 years of experience working in a variety of settings including as a school based therapist and outpatient therapist . I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress management, self-esteem, and work and career issues. I offer a relaxed environment, and I will meet you where you are in the treatment process. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 12 years of experience. I provide an atmosphere of trust and comfort where clients feel at ease. My style of therapy is engaging, warm and goal-oriented. Others have described me as authentic, genuine, non-judgmental and empathic. I work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, school/work related challenges, family conflict, relationship issues, life transition issues and parenting difficulties. I believe there is no “one size fits all” form of treatment. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them find the necessary tools to grow, develop, and achieve their goals. I am skilled in a variety of interventions including the evidenced based approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I draw from these approaches, depending on my client’s goals and what I deem will be most effective. I received my Masters in Clinical Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I practiced and trained in Chicago for 9 years before moving to Indiana. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in various settings including psychiatric hospitals, partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming, within a group practice and a community mental health center.
