PHP program Our PHP program is designed for individuals who require a structured and supportive environment while they work towards their recovery goals. This program provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient treatment, offering a full day of therapy and support. Our experienced team of addiction specialists and mental health professionals will work closely with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and challenges. Through a combination of evidence-based therapies, individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and holistic approaches, we aim to empower individuals to overcome addiction and build a solid foundation for lasting recovery. IOP program Our IOP program is ideal for individuals who have completed a higher level of care, such as PHP or inpatient treatment and are ready to transition to a less intensive level of support. This program offers a flexible schedule that accommodates work, school, and other responsibilities, while still providing the necessary structure and guidance for continued recovery. Clients in our IOP program will participate in individual therapy sessions, group therapy, relapse prevention education, and other therapeutic activities that promote healing and growth. At The Recovery Team Newton We understand that addiction is a complex and multifaceted disease that affects individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally. That is why our treatment approach is holistic, addressing all aspects of an individual’s well-being. We believe in treating the whole person, not just the addiction. Our team of dedicated professionals is committed to providing compassionate care and support, helping clients heal and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Our facility is designed to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where clients can feel comfortable and supported throughout their recovery journey. We provide a range of amenities and services to enhance the treatment experience, including comfortable living spaces, nutritious meals, recreational activities, and access to outdoor spaces. Our goal is to create an environment that promotes healing, relaxation, and personal growth. We value the importance of ongoing support and aftercare. We understand that recovery is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing our clients with the tools and resources they need to maintain sobriety beyond their time in our programs. Our aftercare services include relapse prevention planning, alumni support groups, individual counseling, and referrals to community resources. We strive to empower our clients to build a strong support network and continue their recovery efforts long after they have completed our programs.

As a psychologist, I help college students explore their thoughts, feelings and relationships in a supportive and optimally challenging environment. I am committed to helping my clients feel better and become the best version of themselves. If you want to feel better in your body, adjust to college, improve your relationships, or generally improve your quality of life, you are like many of my clients and I am confident that we can work together to help you. I also work with people who have experienced sexual trauma, struggle with body image, and those who wish to explore their identities and family of origin as they move forward to shape their lives. My therapeutic style is warm, engaged, and collaborative. I work using evidence based methods to help you effect change, and I trust that you are the expert on yourself. Together we create a genuine and in-depth relationship that is supportive, empowering and growth fostering. This experience in therapy strengthens and transforms your sense of self, which in turn allows you to create a more fulfilling and joyful life. I really believe finding the right “fit” of therapist matters. Research has demonstrated that the best predictor of effectiveness in therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. As individuals or in the context of a relationship, we are always trying to make meaning of our lives, decide what is essential to us, and think about the path we are on. Of course, in life there are transitions and challenges along the way which interfere. One can become affected emotionally and can get lost for a time, or feel disillusioned, upset or stuck. In our relationships, we experience conflict and communication struggles, and sometimes get locked into repeated and unwanted patterns. One might ask: "Am I living the life I want; is there something more for me? How do I change? Therapy can be a way to understand the emotions we have, the life transitions we experience and the thoughts we linger on as our lives and relationships evolve and develop. Beyond understanding, therapy’s intent is to support and prompt change and to help you sort through these challenges in your own unique way. Collaboration will guide our work together. I am an interactive, direct and reflective therapist who brings curiosity, humor and respect for the complexity of the issues individuals face. Change is difficult to achieve; my job is to help you utilize and build your resources to accomplish the goals you seek. Having over 30 years of clinical experience offers strategies and tools to share.

I offer a collaborative space to address a range of issues, with a particular interest in working with life's big transitions. For example, professionals launching their careers and students formulating their vocational goals; or people in family changes: entering long-term commitments, early parenthood, divorce, or grief. Therapy can provide a non-judgmental space that is both warmly supportive and challenging. Our work will typically balance a combination of self-reflection and change. We start this process together by looking at how your presenting concerns fit into the complex story of your life. Throughout this process, I aim to enhance my clients' agency, satisfaction, and creativity within their lives. About me: Please visit my website at www.miriamwaldheterphd.com . I earned my doctorate at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I then completed a pre-doctoral internship at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, and postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to private practice, I also work part-time at the Danielsen Institute at Boston University.

I've been in (and continue) training for psychodynamic and relational analytic work with adults, couples, families and children. I'm a generalist with a range of clinical interests and experience, including: depression; traumas and intergenerational trauma; anxiety and sociopolitical anxiety; parenting and parent guidance; identities; relationships; family of origin issues; adjustment disorders and life transitions; dissociation; spirituality; creativity; dreams; play; helping professionals; and academia. I'm also comfortable with various modalities (e.g. CBT, ACT, DBT, MBT, Gottman, Narrative, Relational Cultural Therapy, and EMDR) and weaving them into the work as needed. I truly love this work and am invested in lifelong learning and teaching, via educational groups, courses, seminars, workshops, and consultations. I believe our work is a collaborative endeavor. I'm committed to offering a supportive, safe, compassionate and curious space where growth, healing, and insights can occur. I understand and appreciate the vulnerability of starting therapy, and trying to find someone who feels like the right fit to invite into your life. Fundamentally, our work should aim to both decrease your symptoms while helping to increase your own awareness of yourself and enhance your connection to self and others, leading to a more full, vibrant, satisfying and meaningful life.

With 35 plus years of experience, I do individual and group psychotherapy with young adults, mainly college students. Some of the concerns that I work with most are: anxiety, dealing with stress, depression, relational growth with parents, relationship concerns, self-injury, the coming out process, sexual assault and childhood history of abuse and bereavement. My approach is relaxed, authentic and validating. Let's recognize all of your feelings and qualities and not label you in a pejorative way. I have a solid background, am well trained and value you as my collaborator here.
