Therapists for college students near 02139
Hi there! My name is Lucy and I am a psychotherapist with a MSW from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have experience providing therapy to emerging adult and adult clients in a community clinic at a university and a private practice. Before my master's, I worked with adolescents in a public high school. I have worked with clients with various presenting problems including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and more. Additionally, I have walked alongside and empowered clients as they navigate life transitions (such as the transition into college and out of college into the workplace), neurodiversity, relationship struggles, trauma, body image distress, self-worth issues, and more. I believe the client-therapist relationship is essential to the therapeutic process and work to cultivate a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental space for self-exploration. I meet my clients where they are and collaborate with them to set goals and treatment plans. To do so, I combine different modalities like CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy (SFBT), and more. I know therapy can be daunting, but it also presents opportunities to explore your feelings, challenge yourself, work through difficult situations, and even celebrate your growth! My goal is for all my clients to feel secure and seen, no matter if they have been to therapy before or this is their first time. I am excited to work with and get to know you!
My practice is based in Lexington, MA, where I provide both in-person and virtual treatment. I specialize in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, typically meeting more frequently to support deeper work. Therapy begins by reflecting on your experiences, with an effort to understand them rather than judge them. I take a compassionate approach to exploring your problems, your desire for change, and your difficulties in making changes. Through better understanding your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships, it may become possible to make more informed and meaningful choices. I am collaborative and flexible in my approach, looking for ways to work well together. I provide brief consultations for those seeking help thinking through specific challenges, gaining a professional perspective, or developing strategies for change. When people are struggling in their attempts to do things differently, I aim to help figure out what is getting in their way, a process that can take time but often leads to greater clarity. A therapeutic relationship with someone you trust can be an important path toward self-understanding and emotional relief. Because therapy is a deeply personal experience, it's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable working with. I welcome you to contact me if you're curious to see if this might be a good fit.

We live in a stressful world where everyone is struggling. The current global crisis compiled with our personal life experiences have created a sense of overwhelm, burnout, isolation and disconnection. And our life journeys are full of crisis, loss, grief, and trauma. These experiences activate fear, alter patterns of behavior, create limitations in perception, relationship issues, low self-esteem, addictions, negative thought patterns and a multitude of mental and physical health symptoms. An accumulation of these unprocessed emotions and unresolved traumas can weaken the spirit, affecting one’s core vitality for life. College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.
Facing challenges can be difficult for all of us. Some seek therapy in moments of crisis; others are motivated by alleviating uncomfortable feelings and thoughts that can include anxiety, depression, sadness, anger, and so on. Still others seek treatment as part of self-discovery. It’s a privilege to support my clients through their courageous journeys of self-understanding that leads to an improved sense of wellbeing, regardless of the challenges they face. In my opinion, strength is not the absence of problems, but rather having the resilience to face them. I am looking to work with young adults who want to be their best selves. With over a decade of experience treating adolescents and families, I have helped numerous individuals and families experiencing symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, social struggles, addictive behaviors, LGBTQ+ concerns, and more. I mindfully adapt my therapeutic approach to the needs of each client. In talking with me, you will find a therapist who is eager to lead with his ear in order to meet you where you are. My style is compassionate, empathic, welcoming, relational, empowering, and probing. I bring a sense of humor and creativity to our sessions. Your unique challenges require a flexible, evidenced-based, and individualized method of support.
In my private practice, I work with high school, college, and graduate/professional students. I enjoy working with high-achieving students of all genders, racial/ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. This includes students who are on leave from college for medical, personal, or financial reasons. Because I also consult to schools and colleges, I am very effective at helping students and families navigate educational institutions.

When everything feels like too much, therapy shouldn’t add to the pressure. I'm a liberatory therapist working with kids and adults facing life transitions and overwhelm. I don’t believe in forcing people to fit systems that weren’t built for them. Instead, I center you—your needs, your truth, and your pace. Using humanistic and cognitive approaches, I offer a grounded space where we can explore what’s hard, celebrate your strengths, and move toward a more authentic sense of self. With compassion, humor, and curiosity, we’ll challenge the stories that are holding you back—and build new ones that feel like yours.
