I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating substance use concerns and related mental health challenges. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis on skills-based interventions, relapse prevention, and collaborative treatment planning. I utilize a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and increase emotional regulation. I have experience supporting individuals in early recovery, those working toward sustained sobriety, and clients managing co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns. I provide individual therapy and psychoeducation, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space that promotes accountability, insight, and long-term change. I work with clients from all religious and spiritual backgrounds and respect each client’s beliefs, integrating them into treatment when clinically appropriate.
It can be hard to know when to call a therapist. Have you found yourself thinking the below thoughts? -There is something wrong with me -I don't understand the way I am feeling -No one understands me -This isn't supposed to be the way my college experience is -I just can't handle these feelings of sadness/stress/anxiety If so, it sounds like you could benefit from talking to a therapist. Life is hard and therapy can be an effective tool to help navigate life's difficulties. As your therapist, I will sit with you and listen as you share your struggles and we will make sense of things. Together, we can figure out how you are unintentionally "getting in your own way" and also recognize the ways you are helping yourself thrive (but perhaps hadn't even realized it!). I'll teach you about your emotions, the mind-body connection and the relationship between thoughts-feelings-behaviors. This information will help you learn new and better ways to help yourself when you are feeling overwhelmed with your emotions and life challenges. Sounds like this could be helpful? Send me an email, we can schedule a 15 min phone call where I can answer your questions and we can get started.
I provide individual therapy and couples counseling for adults struggling with a wide range of issues. My areas of expertise include mood dysregulation, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, life transitions, identity issues, college counseling, and trauma/PTSD. Overall, I view therapy as a collaborative relationship between client and therapist in which we work together towards client self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and healing. I work from a flexible, integrative approach, drawing on aspects of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and relational modalities, depending on each client's particular needs. My style is empathetic, respectful, and curious. I have specialized training in Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD, cross-cultural therapy, working with veterans, and working with asylum-seekers/refugees.
I am an integrative, trauma-focused, queer therapist dedicated to helping people understand themselves better. I particularly enjoy working with clients who want to be in more authentic, connected relationships with partners and family members, want to better understand how trauma has impacted their life and shed patterns that are no longer useful, or want to parent differently than they were parented. My areas of specialized training include interpersonal trauma and PTSD (sexual assault, childhood abuse, domestic violence), attachment and relationships, perinatal mental health, and infant/early childhood mental health. My approach is informed by an anti-oppressive, feminist, and identity-affirming lens. I hold a perspective that our systems and culture impact our sense of self and how we show up in the world. You know yourself best, and I am here to create a nonjudgmental space for you to bring your full self to learn and grow in the ways that are most important to you. I balance processing to better understand a root cause and change patterns with learning new skills. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership, welcoming feedback and showing up with warmth and authenticity, integrating humor and gentle challenging where appropriate. Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, a trauma-informed therapist who helps college students navigate stress, self-doubt, and relationship challenges while trying to get the most out of college and figuring out who they really are. If you’ve ever tried to study for finals while spiraling over a relationship conflict, or pulled an all-nighter because you were rewriting a paper that was already good enough or procrastinated so hard you needed every last minute before hitting submit, I get it. Many of the students I work with struggle to keep up appearances while silently wondering if they’re falling behind. I’ve worked with undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University and understand the intense pressure to perform, achieve, and never disappoint anyone (especially your parents). Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and sometimes even a little funny (because laughing about how much you overthink counts as progress). Together, we’ll unpack what’s fueling your stress, explore the patterns that keep you stuck, and build tools to help you feel more secure, confident, and grounded in your own life. Finding a therapist who is the right step is essential to therapeutic success. I encourage you to shop around and also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we could be a good fit. If interested in a free consult, feel free to email me or fill out an inquiry form on my website. I hope you get the support that you're looking for and more.

Kailey’s approach is all about making therapy feel approachable and down-to-earth. She is not here to give you a bunch of jargon or leave you feeling more confused. Her therapeutic areas of focus include interpersonal dynamics, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and women’s issues. She utilizes an integrative, humanistic approach to therapy, including elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, attachment theory and mindfulness. Though Kailey currently resides in Northern Virginia, she was born and raised in Connecticut and is a true New Englander at heart.
