I have 20 years of working with clients on anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm. I love building new wellness practices that are accessible and sustainable -- identifying challenges, utilizing coping skills, and creating easy self-care practices for your day. It's wonderful to see clients shift from having distress at their symptoms to feeling confident about their ability to handle what life throws at them. After 20 years of working and learning, I utilize a wide range of approaches -- the classic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful thoughts, somatic practices like yoga, Emotional Freedom Technique, and mindfulness and breath work to help settle the body, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to get to know with caring and curiosity what is behind the triggers and automatic responses. My pronouns are she/her, and I strive to incorporate a feminist and anti-racist perspective into my work.
I love working with people facing challenges in their relationships, whether romantic or otherwise. My goal is to help you identify what you truly want, where you encounter obstacles, and to help you address any self-imposed obstacles. We'll work together to make change happen fast so that what you want is more likely to become reality. I won’t just nod along, so if you're looking for someone who doesn't skirt around the issues, you're on the right profile. I have experience working with a with a variety of concerns, including but not limited to: relationship distress, mood disorders, anxiety, impulsive behavior, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, maladaptive perfectionism, and teens at risk for personality disorders. I'm well-versed in both DBT and RO-DBT, both of which shape my approach to therapy. I have been intensively trained in Radically-Open DBT (RO-DBT), a specialized treatment for Chronic Depression, Anorexia-Nervosa, and disorders of Overcontrol (OC).
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist, and I feel privileged to help those struggling with mental health issues. I understand that there is still a stigma surrounding mental health, and I strive to ensure my patients feel understood during our appointments. Building rapport and getting to know my patients beyond just their diagnoses is central to my approach to care. I have experience treating patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, emergency departments, and medical hospitals. I believe that the best outcomes usually occur when medications and therapy are used together. While I enjoy treating all psychiatric illnesses, I have a particular affinity for personality disorders and substance use disorders. I also have experience addressing mental health issues during and after pregnancy. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Biology at Laurentian University, followed by medical training at Ross University School of Medicine. I then completed my psychiatry residency, serving as chief resident, at the University of North Dakota in Fargo.

I come from a diverse work background and have worked with different populations. I have worked in community and school-based settings as well outpatient therapy.
I work best with high-functioning adults and students who seem put together on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out on the inside. Many are caregivers, first-generation professionals, or cycle-breakers navigating pressure, perfectionism, family expectations, or relationship stress. They’re thoughtful and motivated for growth. They want practical tools to manage stress and set boundaries, while also understanding deeper patterns that keep them stuck. If you’re tired of just surviving and ready to feel more grounded and intentional, we’ll likely be a good fit. Therapy with me is warm, culturally responsive, and focused on helping you build skills and create real, lasting change.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with many years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I know that change is hard and seeking support is brave. It is a privilege to be alongside you in your journey towards becoming the person you want to be and living the life you want to live. Our therapy will be a space where it is okay to show up as your authentic self and share your feelings. We will collaborate to identify and work towards the changes you want to see in your life, brainstorm ways to overcome patterns you may feel stuck in, and support you in gaining the insight needed to foster progress. I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, perfectionism, school and work stress, self-esteem, attachment, and interpersonal and family relationships. My approach aims to be relational, strength-based, and trauma-informed. I strive to bring empathy, humor, and a nonjudgmental approach to the therapy space to support you in your journey. I use an integrative, holistic approach that pulls from different therapeutic specialties that we will tailor specifically to your identified wants and needs - such as narrative therapy, family systems, mind-body connection, solution-focused, and emotion and person-centered.
My approach is warm, energetic, and client-centered. I believe that no two clients are the same, so therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. I strive to tailor each session to the individual, meeting clients where they are and focusing on what they need in that moment. Together, we create an approach that reflects each client's goals, readiness for change, and unique strengths to move forward and gain confidence.

I create a safe space for you to explore who you are, your experiences in life, and what you would like to become or experience, by providing a non-judgmental, respectful, calm, stable, and positive atmosphere as your counselor. I will encourage and guide you to be your authentic self. The populations I specialize in counseling include people who identify within the broad spectrums of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (and their loved ones), persons living with HIV, social justice & civil rights workers, and polyamorous folks & others in non-traditional, open, and/or kink relationships. I have experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and those who are going through life changes. I also enjoy teaching life and coping skills, assertive communication, boundary setting, mindfulness, and doing relationship counseling, career counseling, and life coaching. I enjoy working with students who need support in adjusting to all the changes that school inherently comes with leaving home, performance anxiety, finding your people, dating, friends, study habits, getting ready to graduate and finding your next move etc. And through all of this, sometimes there is anxiety, depression, or trauma that makes all of the adjustments more difficult. Therapy can help you sort through all of that so that you have a clear mind and feel more at ease in life. Should we decide to take the next steps together, you will find a dedicated space just for you, where I fully encourage, and want to see, your authentic self. Whether you are experiencing sadness, relational concerns, anxiety, or difficulty with adjustment, the main goal is for you to grow and make new meaning out of your experiences. We may work particularly well together if you're looking to explore your sense of self, identity concerns, social justice concerns, trauma, and relationship challenges.
