Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
Regardless of your reasons for seeking therapy, it is vital that you feel understood and supported as you begin this process. You may be experiencing depression or anxiety, navigating a significant life transition, or feeling dissatisfied in areas of your life such as school, work, or relationships. Together, we will explore the forces that are keeping you stuck and help you cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. Using a variety of techniques including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral interventions, our work together will be tailored to your unique needs. My therapeutic approach is characterized by warmth, curiosity, and flexibility. I have postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and DBT. My past work experiences have included the Outpatient Trauma Clinic at McLean, the Outpatient Psychiatry Department at MGH, and the Psychiatry Department at New York Presbyterian. Finding the right fit between patient and therapist is important, so I offer a free phone consultation to help us determine if working together feels right. This consultation can also provide the opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about starting therapy. Please call or e-mail me to set up an initial consultation.
Despite years of self work and therapy, is something still not right? Can you feel it in your body that your nervous system is not functioning in the way that you need? Working together I can help reacquaint yourself with your body and it's signals, learn how to listen to it's cues, care for the nervous system and whole self. We can discover the root of your suffering and find ways through it, so you feel more calm and more engaged. We may also use EMDR to reprocess traumatic experiences. EMDR helps facilitate conditions that allow your body and brain's natural ability to heal to prevail. Do you feel like others in the world are suffering more than you, that you shouldn’t ask for more? I will help you work through these doubts and hesitations to discover how you can truly live a life that is aligned with who you are, guilt-free. It's possible for you to live more in the present and feel empowered in your life. Our work will help you feel more connected to yourself, the people in your life and the world around you. You will better understand your life experiences, stresses and anxieties to learn to live with all parts of who you are in better harmony.

I offer both telehealth and in-person appointments at my Boston location (16 Cohasset St). I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. I have provided care in hospitals, community mental health programs and outpatient centers, supporting individuals experiencing complex emotional challenges, personality disorders, substance abuse and self-harm. My practice, Venus House, was founded as a consciously safe space that prioritizes inclusivity, cultural humility and compassion.
In my counseling work I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients include people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My relational and existential approach helps me understand and connect with my clients. I believe that the intent of therapy is exchanging "symptoms" for "coping skills." To accomplish this transformation, we need to understand our past to shed light on who we are in the present, where we have the power to focus on present issues and make changes that will influence our future. I see psychotherapy as a learning process. I bring my knowledge and understanding of psychological phenomena to bear on my client's life experiences. Psychotherapy is not an easy process, but I work to meet you, the client, where you are and to create safe space to explore and grow. In addition to psychotherapy work, I'm an adjunct faculty at Lesley University, where I teach Introduction to Psychology and Child Psychology. I have completed my psychoanalysis fellowship with the IPE, which is affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine. I'm also a certified Cognitive Behavioral group therapist.
College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.

I have been a practicing psychologist for the past 23 years. I have a warm and informal style which I believe serves my clients well. I use techniques that best fit the needs of my clients. I have an active, directive approach in my clinical work. I do not hesitate to give direct feedback and advice to my clients, and will give homework to clients when necessary. I have experience providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and elderly clients. I specialize in cognitive and cognitive-behavioral techniques for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and childhood and adult ADD/ADHD. I also employ an Associate Clinician who works with me on a part-time basis. Hi there! My name is Lucy and I am a psychotherapist with a MSW from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have experience providing therapy to emerging adult and adult clients in a community clinic at a university and a private practice. Before my master's, I worked with adolescents in a public high school. I have worked with clients with various presenting problems including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and more. Additionally, I have walked alongside and empowered clients as they navigate life transitions (such as the transition into college and out of college into the workplace), neurodiversity, relationship struggles, trauma, body image distress, self-worth issues, and more. I believe the client-therapist relationship is essential to the therapeutic process and work to cultivate a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental space for self-exploration. I meet my clients where they are and collaborate with them to set goals and treatment plans. To do so, I combine different modalities like CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy (SFBT), and more. I know therapy can be daunting, but it also presents opportunities to explore your feelings, challenge yourself, work through difficult situations, and even celebrate your growth! My goal is for all my clients to feel secure and seen, no matter if they have been to therapy before or this is their first time. I am excited to work with and get to know you!
