When I began college it was 8 years after high school and I was married. I was anxious that I may not be able to get the degrees that I wanted after being out of school for so long, but I was experiencing childlessness and wanted to be a mother. Keeping busy was something that I needed due to major depression. We did not have free college opportunities then, so I had to make the grades in order to finance this endeavor. This became a goal which required good study habits and commitment. I attended a community college first, then UTC, and then I completed my masters at Grand Canyon University with a 4.0 GPA. This paid for all of the undergraduate work but not for my Master's, which landed me in debt, but I survived. I have been an entrepreneur for 4 decades of various specialties, and have worn many hats. I love music, art, and journalism which have become most beneficial. I have written 37 songs and intend to write a book soon. I went through 6 surgeries to have my two daughters and have 3 special needs grandchildren and one special needs daughter. Also, I am learning ASL and hope to be able to add this population to my clientele. As a small agency, we do not have interpreters for the deaf but do provide a list of practitioners who do. We work with individuals, groups, families, and do certified classes for anger management, A&D Prevention, and Parenting. Every name has a story and every story is worth telling. Finding the best fit for a new therapist can be challenging and scary as you step into a place of vulnerability. We all experience challenging seasons and chapters in our lives and sometimes we need support and guidance to navigate through them. I'm passionate about helping people write their own stories, learn how to move through emotions, embrace where they are at, and gain the skills to thrive and live life abundantly.
In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am also a Registered Art Therapist. Trained under the broader umbrella of Expressive Arts Therapy, I believe in the power of creativity, play, exploration, and expression which offers healing, not solely through traditional talk therapy, but through other expressive means – dance, movement, poetry, painting, improv, and more. I am trained in EMDR, and I value the use of somatic (body) work to facilitate release of embedded trauma. Sometimes, even when we understand logically that we are free from danger, our body still holds a primal fear response. I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic safe space for anyone who wants to embark on a healing journey. To this end, I lean into a strength-based, client-centered, trauma-informed philosophy. Conversations, artmaking, and guided experientials are always presented as invitations as I practice active listening and an open and curious mindset towards what the client wants to explore, create, and share. In my non-profit job, I work as a sexual health educator, HIV tester, counselor, and advocate. I practice a curious, non-judgmental approach and do not shrink away from “taboo” topics. I engage with a wide spectrum of individuals and commit myself to justice and equality for everyone, paying special attention to those in marginalized groups. I offer a safe space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, people with disabilities, and those who may see the world through a different lens.

With nearly 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor, I bring a compassionate, easy-going approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their challenges and build resilience. My practice integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused interventions, to address a wide range of mental health concerns. I am particularly passionate about the role of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and personal growth. By incorporating these practices, I help individuals cultivate self-awareness, manage distress, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and confidence. My therapeutic style is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I believe in meeting clients where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, and fostering a sense of balance and well-being.
As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I have repeatedly seen the benefits of targeting trauma directly in a consistent way. Supported by research, dealing with the most distressing incident(s) can more efficiently help you become more present in your life, enjoy things you had before, and create a future you want. My approach is supportive and goal-oriented, and I am here to help you in this journey. I focus on individual treatment. I enact treatments of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). I also use Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Relationships (STAIR) to address trauma-related symptoms without targeting trauma. The goal of my practice is to strengthen individuals to help them create long-lasting positive effects in their lives.

Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
