I work well with clients who want to learn skills to cope with what they're going through as well as get to the root of the issues. As a therapist I am warm, flexible, and seek to create a brave space in which clients can bring their full selves to the room. While my focus has been trauma and trauma treatments, most of my clients are coming in for help with understanding the role their families have in their lives and changing relationships. Many of my clients are navigating how to be in relationship with parents who have different values and experiences, or maybe don't understand how their actions and choices have impacted my clients. Some topics I work with clients on include: anxiety, stress, perfectionism, over achieving, negative childhood or family experiences, and issues around identity. Some of my clients want to learn concrete skills for managing where they are at in their lives, while others want to get into the depths around who they are and why they do what they do. For both I show up consistently as a sounding board who provides gentle and often direct feedback.

At Severance Therapy, we’re proud to be a diverse collective of clinicians and staff—some of whom identify within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and others who are fierce, informed allies deeply committed to this community. What unites us is a shared dedication to providing affirming, culturally competent care in a space where authenticity is celebrated, not questioned. Many of our clinicians bring personal experience with addiction recovery, sexual identity exploration, and the complexities of queer life—from coming out and dealing with internalized stigma to navigating sobriety in a culture that often centers around substances. Others have spent their professional lives walking alongside queer clients and communities, engaging in continual learning, advocacy, and personal reflection to be the kind of allies who show up loudly and consistently. Our team includes LGBTQIA+ therapists and allied professionals from a range of racial, cultural, and gender identities. Some are in long-term recovery. Some are sex-positive and kink-aware. Some bring academic expertise, while others bring years of boots-on-the-ground experience in queer spaces, harm reduction, and sober living. Together, we offer a dynamic, compassionate, and deeply relatable therapeutic environment—because we know healing happens best when you feel seen, heard, and understood by people who truly get it. You might look like you're holding it together on the outside, but internally things feel overwhelming. I work with teens and adults who are feeling stuck, emotionally exhausted, navigating major life changes, or carrying experiences from the past that continue to affect their daily lives. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, difficult relationships, or simply don't feel like yourself anymore, I'm here to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward. My goal is for you to feel more in control of your life. We’ll explore how your past influences your present, creating a safe space where you feel truly seen. Our time together is to help you discover the strength you already have in you to move forward with clarity and confidence. Taking the first step can feel intimidating, but you don't have to have everything figured out before we meet. Our first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other, talk about what's bringing you to therapy, and begin creating a plan to move forward that feels right for you.

People come to me when they are looking for ways out of being trapped, depressed, anxious or stuck. I work with individuals who don't know how to be their true selves - it is my mission them find ways to live an authentic and empowered life. I am able to hold a lot of complexity and nuance for a variety of human needs and experiences. Especially close to my heart is working with the LGBTQ+ population, or anyone who feels they don't fit into what society, parents, friends, or others expect of them. I also enjoy existential deep dives and those who feel overwhelmed by their emotional landscape. You are the expert on yourself - my role is to help you uncover who that self truly is, and help you to respond to that self with courage, connection and authenticity.

I meet clients where they are, helping them feel seen, build self-trust, and foster more honest and connected relationships. Using body-based, community, & communication focused techniques, I help you reconnect with your authentic self. I’ve been where you are. I remember carrying 18+ credit hours, trying to keep up with classes, friendships, and life while wondering if I was on the right path. I changed my major what felt like a million times—from musical theatre to fashion merchandising, journalism, and public relations/advertising—before eventually becoming a teacher and then finding my calling as a therapist. Life doesn’t always follow a straight line, and that’s okay. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, ADHD, relationships, trauma, or simply trying to figure out what’s next, I want therapy to be a place where you feel understood, supported, and never judged. If I don’t accept your insurance, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m happy to work with private-pay clients and can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network benefits. I’m also happy to answer any questions and help you figure out the most affordable option.

Most people who contact me are dealing with a relationship that feels stuck. The same argument keeps coming back, trust has been damaged, or they are trying to make sense of what happened. I work with couples and with individual adults dealing with betrayal, trauma, anxiety, relationship patterns, and questions involving faith or religious harm. My style is steady and direct. I want us to understand what is happening and decide what needs to change outside the session. Therapy is entirely online for clients in Florida, Texas, Utah, and Arizona.

Hi, I’m Ashley (she/her)! I’m a licensed professional counselor with licenses in Mississippi and Texas. I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with my bachelor’s in psychology in 2017 and my master’s in counseling psychology in 2020. I’ve worked in different settings including telehealth, homes, schools, and an acute care inpatient psychiatric hospital. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to expand your self-understanding. That allows us to develop healthier patterns and learn effective coping skills to help create lasting, positive change in a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your safety, growth, and autonomy are prioritized. I have experience supporting clients as they navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, dysfunctional patterns, and life transitions. I provide gender-affirming, LGBTQ+ inclusive, culturally sensitive, person-centered therapy. I believe that each person that comes into this space deserves a treatment approach that is tailored to their unique needs and experiences. To help ensure that, I integrate key parts of various evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), strengths-based therapy, and compassion-focused therapy (CFT) to best meet your needs. I encourage and welcome transparent feedback so we can adjust our approach as needed. There is never a time that it’s too late to do something different or to start something new. Progress takes time, and it’s normal to have ups and downs while still making progress. My goal is to support you through your healing journey and help you become the version of you that you like best. “No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who hasn’t started.” Every day, we make a choice, to continue living in comfortable misery or to take even the smallest step toward being uncomfortably happier; but first, you must choose you.

Life has a way of exhausting us, especially when it feels like we’re chasing standards no one could possibly meet. I know this struggle deeply. Like so many of us, I’ve juggled work, relationships and other obligations while forgetting to take care of myself. I know what it feels like to carry heavy expectations—as a woman of color and a child of an immigrant, I’ve often felt the weight of needing to be strong, capable, and successful all at once. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety and depression, and overcome the challenges of life transitions. As a new mother, I have expanded my skills in supporting perinatal individuals as well.

It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different “parts” of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
