I believe that you already hold the answers to your most significant challenges. My role is to guide and support you in uncovering those answers, honoring your journey every step of the way. I specialize in a variety of areas, including substance use and harm reduction, sexual health, anxiety disorders, and perinatal mental health. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals dealing with substance use and addiction, whether you're striving for long-term sobriety or seeking balance through moderation. I have trained with the top researcher in harm reduction psychotherapy and will meet you without judgment as you navigate your desired relationship with substances. In my practice, I take great care to offer affirming, trauma-informed care. I have particular experience working with women, the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals living with HIV. My goal is to create a safe space for you to explore and heal, free of judgment. Whether you're facing a life transition, struggling with mental health concerns, or simply seeking to improve your overall well-being, I am here to walk alongside you on your path to healing and growth.
Hey there, I’m Carolyn, a very down-to-earth person who isn’t afraid to show up as my true self. I enjoy helping creative young adults set boundaries, navigate family expectations, and build healthier relationships. If you're an artist, writer, performer, or any creative feeling trapped by people-pleasing, family pressure, or repeating the same romantic patterns, this is your space.
I bring an intrinsic, compassionate, and creative presence to every individual I work with, honoring the richness of their story and lived experience. It is my heartfelt commitment to create a space of cultural humility and inclusivity, one where every identity is cherished and each voice remains at the center of the healing journey. My work is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and clinical integrity, meeting people gently and wholeheartedly exactly where they are. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you discover your own capacity for growth and transformation.
I believe therapy is a space for growth and change that can lead to stronger relationships, healthier ways of functioning, and a deeper sense of well-being. In our work together, I’ll bring empathy, respect, and genuine care. My role is to support you in becoming more self-aware and confident, while helping you make the changes you want to see in your life. To me, therapy is a collaborative process. I’m not here to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as a guide, a support, and sometimes just a steady presence while you navigate life’s challenges. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to grow and the responsibility to pursue that growth when they’re ready. I also believe our relationships with family, partners, friends, or chosen community play a huge role in our overall well-being. When those connections feel off or strained, it can affect so many other areas of life. Whether we're working one-on-one, with a couple, or with a family, I take a systemic approach to understand the bigger picture and help shift patterns that may be keeping you stuck. And I know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll work together to find what feels right for you. Most importantly, I’ll offer a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard. I strive to help individuals struggling with distressing emotions, unhealthy relationships, uncertainty, and the overwhelming demands of life. I see a wide range of clients, including those suffering from anxiety, depression, low motivation, relationship issues, and trauma. In therapy, I will help you to develop an understanding of how past experiences influence your current struggles. As you learn about yourself and the origin of your suffering, you will become more self-aware, fulfilled, and equipped to make positive changes. I trained at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and have extensive experience in private practice, hospital, and college counseling settings. I seek to establish a supportive, nurturing relationship with clients to facilitate growth and introspection in an environment of compassion, respect, and non-judgmental acceptance. I believe therapy offers a unique experience to learn about yourself, others, and the world. My hope is to join you on a path towards developing a greater sense of wellness and passion that will enrich your relationships, professional endeavors, and personal interests. I sincerely look forward to hearing from you.

College can be a hard transition for some. Making new friends, trying to figure out what you want to study for a career or even navigating the college campus and system. This is also a time where you are leaving a known family system and trying on new thoughts and values. This can all lead to anxiety, depression or stress. I am here to help you navigate this journey with you. I want to give you a safe space to share your struggles, and explore tools that can help you through this time.
My personal passion is connecting with those who feel like no one really understands them. I can empathize, as several times in my life I have had those very same feelings. My goal is to help and inspire those who feel disconnected and struggling in life. I aspire to help my clients feel satisfaction, comfort, and joy. With years of experience providing therapy for members of the LGBTQ+ community, clients struggling with spirituality, sexuality, or addiction(s); these topics are my passion and where I have been able to help others navigate. I have real-life experiences such as serving in the military, some trauma, and chronic illness and pain. I have over 20 years’ experience with both civilian and government positions in the fields of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Child Advocacy, Chronic Illness and Counseling/Educational program delivery to the community. My focus is to help you through growth, change and resolution. Your journey is as distinctive as you are.
Perhaps one of the hardest decisions in life is to seek help. You are used to handling everything yourself, but you don’t have to do this alone. We all encounter challenges and/or disadvantages at one point in life, and it is easy to feel discouraged and criticize yourself in this process. Although these difficulties can affect you in profound and painful ways, I believe that they are also opportunities to learn about yourself—acknowledge what is not working and find what will work. This journey is quite exhausting for one person, so I aim to become a part of your support system. As a counselor, I hope to empower each individual to make personal choices that will allow them to discover confidence, direction, happiness, peace, and healing. My role as a therapist is to, first and foremost, create a safe space for your stories to be heard and understood. I will listen to your experiences with compassion, warmth, curiosity, hope, respect, and trust. I believe in genuineness and transparency in the therapeutic relationship, so I will communicate directly yet gently. I offer a collaborative and individualized therapeutic process that allows you to accomplish your goals. In other words, my approach to counseling varies based on what is the best fit for each client. I use creative methods to increase self-awareness and self-reflection (e.g. mindfulness, writing, drawing, music, poetry, activities) because I believe each person has a unique medium of expression. Your commitment to change is also monumental in this process because you are the expert on your life. I will be there as a guide to help you uncover your true potential. I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. I work with older adolescent and adult individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, interpersonal/relationship issues, OCD, ADHD, grief and loss, trauma/PTSD, LGBTQIA+ related issues, transition and change, anger management, stress management and self-care, social justice issues, and low self-confidence. As an Asian American woman, I celebrate diversity and welcome people from all backgrounds.
