Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
Hello, My name is John and I have been a Professor in the area of counselor training for over 20 years and I have worked as a Therapist with young adults and college aged clients since the early 2000's. I specialize in working with issues that are intrinsic to young people and the world in which we live. I focus on you and meeting you where you are at by listening and giving you a safe place to work thru your "stuff." I look forward to meeting you and collaborating on this journey we call LIFE.
I have worked with hundreds of University students over the years supporting ADHD, anxiety, panic and depression as well as bipolar and other psychotic or early psychotic symptoms that can emerge around early adulthood. I take the time to listen and we make a treatment plan based on the whole you in the world, not just your symptoms. I have decades of experience as an herbalist and natural healthcare provider and this perspective deeply informs my practice. I work hard to prescribe accurately and with the lowest doses and fewest medications possible. I am a safe space provider for any gender, sexuality, religious or political affiliation. Come as you are, Im excited to meet you.

Are you looking for an experienced clinician who believes in the healing power of support and that we all deserve a life of value, even if we haven't solved all the pain and problems in our lives? There may be a part of you that tries to convince you that it’s not going to work, that your situation is too much or not enough or that clinicians just don’t know how to help you. The things you or your family have done to cope with pain or trauma or grief have now become problems too. Very often, we do these these thing to protect ourselves, because we care. Another part of you, even if it’s small, hopes for the opportunity to be understood, to be able to be transparent and to be appreciated for who you are in this moment. In my 20+ clinical years, I have truly seen miracles happen, even in the most complex situations. The work we do together will allow for emotions to be worked through, learn how to build a network of support and the practicing of advanced, evidenced based skills and processes to move towards and into a life worth living. I would be honored to be your guide.

Hi! I love helping students navigate the overwhelming experience of college life and helping individuals navigate mental health struggles like anxiety, ADHD, OCD, or trauma. Many of the students I work with are high achievers who often feel pressure to succeed but struggle with self-doubt, perfectionism, or negative self-talk. You might find it hard to focus, feel stuck in your thoughts, or wonder if you’re doing enough—academically, socially, or in life. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Together, we’ll create a space where you feel heard and supported while working toward a sense of balance and confidence. My approach is compassionate and practical, helping you understand yourself better while building tools to better handle stress. As a therapist my goal is to serve as a thought partner to recognize, analyze, and eventually untie the tethers that hold clients back from their best lives. Together, with nature as our muse, we will embark on this work. Therapy is an iterative process by which participants are able to free themselves and recognize their own purpose and power.
I offer relational, culturally affirming psychotherapy and supervision for individuals seeking depth, support, and authenticity. Grounded in my identity as a Black female relational psychotherapist, my work centers the impact of culture, power, and systemic context on both personal healing and clinical practice. •Group Mentorship for Emerging Practice Owners: I am opening a dedicated space to coach mid-level psychotherapists who are ready to navigate the transition into private practice, blending clinical wisdom with practical business mentorship. •Relational, Culturally Affirming Supervision/Mentorship for Therapists: Appreciating the weight we are all carrying, I am continuing to offer a reflective, iterative space specifically for fellow healers, grounded in a culturally affirming framework. My goal is to "hold the holders" and ensure the next generation of clinicians is as supported and culturally rooted as possible. •Relational, Culturally Affirming Psychotherapy for Therapists: Recognizing the unique weight we carry, I am continuing to offer a therapeutic holding space specifically for fellow healers, grounded in a culturally affirming framework. •Culturally Grounded Organizational Development: I am expanding my work with organizations, providing the high-level training and structural support necessary to create truly equitable and culturally grounded environments. Hi there! I work with high achievers suffering from burnout, people pleasing, codependency, and difficult family relationships. Most of all, my clients want to not feel this way anymore. They are ready for change.
