I have specialized in treating survivors of abuse and trauma and received certifications to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment and work with survivors of violence, trauma, and torture, and currently working toward a certification in EMDR. I also enjoy working with individuals and families dealing with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, family systems issues and conflicts, difficulty with adjustments, grief and loss, and acculturation issues. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, EMDR, and Narrative Therapy, as well as creative and play therapy techniques. Anjuli Maharaj Shah is welcoming new patients for video appointments. As a holistic provider, she integrates non-pharmacologic approaches in addition to medication in her psychiatric treatment. She has a particular interest in nutritional psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Shah has had focused training in various therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have stopped taking insurance because of all the barriers it creates from its medical model of viewing functionality and need. I know this creates a financial barrier for some, but I believe that until the system changes, its more of a detriment overall.
