You don't have to keep holding it all together-going through the motions on your own, guessing what normal is, not knowing anything better. You're working hard to build a life that looks good on paper-education, career, independence, maybe even a relationship or side hustle. But, underneath the surface, you're exhausted. The anxiety won't let up. Your inner critic never takes a day off. And, no matter how much you achieve, it never feels like enough. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who you really are, you're in the right place. I work with women and LGBTQ+ individuals who are ready to understand the why behind their patterns and start healing at the root. Together, we'll create a space where your story is heard, your pain is validated, and your healing becomes possible. You might find yourself: -Overthinking every decision and replaying conversations in your head -Struggling with low self-esteem, perfectionism, or people pleasing -Feeling anxious in your relationships, yet afraid to be truly seen -Living with persistent sadness, numbness, or self-doubt -Wondering if what happened in your past is still affecting your present If this resonates, therapy can help. I offer individual counseling to support you in: -Understanding how childhood trauma has shaped your beliefs and behaviors -Learning to soothe your nervous system and respond versus react -Setting boundaries without guilt -Building emotional resilience and self worth -Exploring your identity outside of old roles and expectations It's okay to ask for help. You're not supposed to do this alone. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're used to being the strong one. But, healing doesn't mean falling apart-it means letting yourself grow into someone who feels whole. Here's how to begin: 1. Schedule a free consultation - A 15-minute phone call to see if we're a good fit. 2. Start therapy - We'll meet weekly (in person or virtually) to explore your story and begin the work of healing. 3. Reclaim your life - Bit by bit, you'll begin to feel more grounded, self-compassionate, and connected to who you truly are. If you have questions at any point, you're welcome to reach out. I'm here to support you in taking this first step.

Educated and trained at Rutgers, Harvard, Savannah State, and the University of Pennsylvania, Michael Mack started his career over 25 years ago at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, where he focused in Structural Family Therapy (SFT) developed by Salvador Minuchin, a pioneer in child and adolescent therapy. In addition, he has been trained by the Beck Institute and Linehan Institute/Behavioral Tech in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Through the use of solution-focused techniques, insight-oriented therapies, and motivational interviewing, clients develop the coping skills to shift beliefs, change behaviors, and overcome negative past events. Clients learn new ways to improve their social interactions and personal development to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression, and other issues. Ultimately, it is about getting better and feeling better. It is about taking control of your life, or helping a loved one overcome the pain and suffering of a mental illness. If you have gotten this far, you're halfway there. As Dumbledore stated, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

At Stillwell Athens, we offer both individual counseling and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to support college students and all young adults who are navigating emotional, relational, or life transitions. We provide different levels of care so clients can access the amount of support they need, whether that’s weekly therapy or more structured, consistent treatment, without stepping away from school, work, or daily responsibilities. Our approach is relational, developmentally informed, and evidence-based. We work with individuals, couples, and families using modalities such as CBT and DBT, alongside experiential and creative approaches when appropriate. We regularly support college students and young adults adjusting to independence, academic or career stress, and relationship challenges, as well as adults and parents managing changing family dynamics, identity shifts, and major life decisions. For those who need more than individual therapy alone, our IOP provides increased structure, group support, and clinical care while remaining fully outpatient. This option is well-suited for clients who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in need of additional accountability and connection. 10-15 hours of therapeutic support per week. At Stillwell, we focus on helping our clients build insight, develop practical skills, and strengthen the supports that allow for meaningful, sustainable change. You don't have to put your life on hold or compromise your mental health and wellbeing.

Great to meet you! Hi, I’m Angela. I’ve been supporting people through life’s ups and downs for many years, and I believe that we all deserve understanding, kindness, and a space where we can explore what’s really going on for us. I work with individuals, couples, and families — including kids, teens, adults, and seniors — who are facing things like anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD challenges, stress in relationships, or family issues. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help you feel heard and supported as you make healthier choices and create the life you want. A bit about my approach to therapy I bring warmth, openness, and a “we’re in this together” attitude to our work. Clients describe me as understanding, genuine, and easy to talk to — someone who laughs with you, sits with the hard moments, and doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. We’ll talk it out, make space for the stories you bring, and work through challenges at a pace that feels right for you. My style is solution-oriented and open-minded, and you’ll always be met with respect and curiosity. What you can expect from our first session In our first session, you can expect to feel welcomed and genuinely listened to. We’ll focus on understanding what’s been pulling at you and what you hope to change. You’ll leave with a sense of clarity, some early ideas for what we might explore together, and a feeling that this is a safe space where you can show up as you are. Over time, many people find they feel more confident handling life’s stresses, stronger in their relationships, and better equipped with tools to move forward with purpose and resilience.
