We love working with college students. Our team brings a wealth of experience working in college counseling centers, helping undergrads and grad students navigate the unique demands of balancing school and life. We provide individual, couple, and family therapy to students of all ages and in all phases of life, and we offer assessment/testing to identify issues such as ADHD or learning challenges, so that students can show up with personalized strategies and skills to best support their learning. I earned my master’s degree in social work, with a concentration in mental health, from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at UIC in 2017. Since then, I have worked in multiple settings, including residential treatment, schools, and traditional clinical placements. I have a passion for doing this work and absolutely love my job. I have worked primarily with adolescents and families from diverse backgrounds, and I am excited to work with clients from all walks of life, whether they are on specific journeys of growth and healing, or just trying to figure some things out. I believe that everyone already has within them the inner strength and talents they need to create the life they want. Sometimes, we just need some help recognizing or tapping into our gifts. I’m a firm believer in the strengths-based approach, along with cognitive behavioral and reality therapy, and work from a combination of these perspectives. This means that in essence, I believe that learning the how and why behind the choices we have made in the past, is the most important part of learning how to choose wisely in the future. My goal is to create a safe place where we can talk openly about those choices without judgment, process the consequences both good and bad, and progress towards making different choices leading to different outcomes.

In an individual or group session, I aim to bring a warm, curious, and deeply compassionate energy into the room. I believe that every person has their own unique story to tell, and I strive to honor that by providing personalized therapy to fit your specific needs. I draw mainly from family systems and psychodynamic therapy, which allows me to bring past or subconscious thoughts to the surface and gently guide you toward self-insight.

My approach to therapy is individualized, attentive, direct, and flexible. Guided by Lacanian psychoanalysis and grounded in social justice, I offer patients a space to speak freely about their suffering, history, questions, wishes, fantasies, and desires. I listen carefully for the unconscious in their patients’ speech, focusing on the unique complexity of each patient. Speaking, listening, and being heard in this way opens up new possibilities for ways of relating to oneself and others. This approach works for a wide variety of concerns, including those that are difficult to put into words. I offer individual art and talk therapy to patients of all ages who are willing to speak about their suffering and learn new things about themselves. I also provides couples and relationship counseling to partners, exes, and roommates. I reserve a number of appointments each week for sliding scale patients. Please reach out if a reduced fee would allow you to access my services.

As a queer, sex-positive therapist, I specialize in trauma informed care providing support for the LGBTQIA+ community. I work with individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation, depression, complex and religious trauma, grief, neurodiversity, systemic oppression, substance use, HIV/AIDS, GNC, kink, CNM, and identity-based marginalization. Our work together will be a process of learning and unlearning. My approach is relational and strengths-based. We will explore transgenerational patterns and observational behaviors generated from a place of survival. It is my goal to promote the process of healing by creating a safe and affirming space for you to cultivate an understanding within yourself that will unveil the deeper meaning your struggle is pointing towards. I will help you recognize the effects of the larger societal and cultural environment that have shaped how you move through the world. I believe there is no limit to human capacity. There is wisdom and truth to be found within the struggles that we face. You have the ability to develop profound knowledge and acceptance of these conflicts and the strength to move forward in your life. The road ahead is often a vulnerable one, and I am grateful for the trust that you may bring to the process.

Marriage & Family Therapist
Chicago, IL

Hi! I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples, and families. My clinical focus surrounds helping LGBTQIA+ individuals navigate their identity in the individual and family context, challenging perfectionism and high functioning anxiety/depression in Asian/Asian American communities. With a collaborative yet direct approach, I hope to help you identify and overcome barriers that have previously hindered your progress while nurturing a therapeutic relationship built upon trust, safety, and even humor! First, we’ll focus on behavioral changes you can take to meet your goals. If you still feel unresolved, we can dive deeper into your emotion and the narratives you have to explore obstacles that constrain you from reaching your goals. Paired with my ongoing training to receive EMDR-certification, I hope to provide a collaborative space to make that change. Growing up between Canada, China, Taiwan; working in entertainment in LA, and then pivoting to receive my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Family Institute at Northwestern University, I accept that life does not always go as planned. Like my journey, I recognize change happens differently for everyone. And, I hope to be apart of yours too. :)
