Tori Mackley, the owner at Heart 2 Soul Counseling, believes that everyone should have a space where they feel supported, understood, validated, and heard. She works to create that space for each individual she works with, whether in her office or virtually. Tori understands the unique challenges and difficulties college students face due to her own struggles in finding her footing in her undergraduate years. Vanay Frederick-Ellis has a passion for working with all people and most of her experience has been with children and families. She earned her master’s degree and PhD from Walden University. She has completed research on trauma and juvenile delinquency. Vanay has over 9 years’ professional experience working with individuals living with anxiety, depression, DMDD, ADHD, gender dysphoria, gender identity, and other identity issues. Additionally, she has experience in trauma, crisis intervention, family systems, and client-centered approach. **As of April 2024, Dr. Vanay is waiting for the PA Board to approve her licensure application. She is unable to accept insurance at this time and is self-pay only.**

Therapy can be an intimidating journey, and getting started can often feel overwhelming. My hope is to build a therapeutic relationship that feels open, trusting, and supportive, so we can really focus on the challenges that have brought you to this point. Navigating young adulthood can be exhilarating and exciting, but can also lead to fear, worry, and challenges related to leaving home, taking on new roles, and learning about the world in a new way. Sometimes this transition can be hard as you figure out and learn about the different parts of yourself in emerging adulthood. I am excited to walk alongside you as you take this new step towards growth and healing. I believe my clients are experts on their lived experience. I believe my clients deserve trauma informed, inclusive, and affirming care.

Each of us lives our story in chapters—some filled with joy, others with hardship, and many with the quiet in-betweens. As a therapist, I see my role as walking alongside people as they turn the page, helping them make meaning of the past while creating space for new beginnings. I believe we all hold the keys within us: keys to resilience, healing, growth, and self-understanding. I utilize a strength-based approach to treatment as well as incorporate various styles that suit your needs. My practice is grounded in creating a safe and supportive environment to create a healthier future while honoring the past.

Your mental health matters. I offer creative and empathetic counseling services to meet you where you are. I am here to help you foster self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence. We live in an especially stressful time, and we all need extra support. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy, so I utilize an empathetic, person-centered approach, bringing in tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, and CBT where appropriate. Together, we will develop goals and a treatment plan to help you become the best version of yourself.

The search for a counselor/therapist can be overwhelming. It is my goal to present a clear and comprehensive picture of my services and approach to therapy. I strive to create an environment where my clients can feel accepted, safe and understood. You are the expert on your life. My job is to make sure that you are utilizing all your expertise. Are you someone who feels that life has no meaning or purpose? Are feelings of depression and anxiety holding you back from finding your true potential? Many times, life transitions and sudden change can magnify these feelings of uncertainty. You are not alone. I specialize in assisting those who are uncertain of what they need or want from life. Learn ways to manage your discomfort so that you can begin to focus on what is truly important to you. The best time to consider counseling is when troubled thinking or behaviors begins to affect your daily living; jobs, friendships, family and intimate relationships. For some, these issues may be longstanding patterns that began years ago. For others, sudden changes such as a loss, crisis, trauma or addiction can trigger unfamiliar feelings that paralyze your ability to get through the day. My focus is on that voice in the head we all hear. It is the voice that shapes our perceptions of people, the world and ourselves. It is the voice that tells us that we are deficient, that life is scary, that things are never going to get better. Those thoughts are not as significant as you may believe.

Trying to find the right therapist in the middle of exams, papers, and trying to maintain a social life can feel overwhelming. I'm so glad you are here anyway! The most important things in finding a therapist is: 1) Finding someone you feel comfortable with- I work hard to make sessions as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I am approachable and welcoming. 2) Finding a therapist who will help you grow- In addition to providing you with a safe space to talk, I also teach you valuable skills for more effectively managing your emotions, relationships, life and communication skills. I also specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma, and find themselves stuck and unable to move forward with their life. Hope, healing, and growth are always possible. Feel free to email me. I hope to hear from you soon.

College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience as a therapist. I specialize in treatment of complex trauma and PTSD, with Level I and Level II EMDR training. Several years ago I also completed an advanced EMDR training in somatic reprocessing, and I use awareness of the mind/body connection in much of my therapeutic treatment. Additionally, I have a great deal of experience and training in DBT and CBT, as well as trauma-focused play interventions for children. I also use these interventions to work with anxiety, mood disorders, and OCD, and have experience treating PANS and PANDAS. I have a particular passion for working with the LGBTA+ population, and offer a focus on the traumatic nature of oppression in my work. I can help transgender clients navigate medical and social transition, as well as write surgery letters. Two years ago I completed certification through the International Transgender Certification Association. I provide a warm and inviting environment where no one is judged, and everyone is free to heal and explore themselves in their own time.

I offer an informal approach to therapy where you can be totally free to be who you are. I have a lot of experience in working with clients with depression, anxiety and neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism). I also would be a good fit for anyone experiencing grief and loss—either through a death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or life just hasn’t turned out the way you expected. I also understand that college can be a really tough transition and a crazy stressful time in life. I’ve been there and I would love to help you through it. Additionally, I am part of a first responder family and love to work with clients who are first responders (or love one) as I have personal and professional training and experience in this area.

Opening up is no small thing, but it's also the fundamental thing that gives folks relief. To this end, I try to make therapy a natural process and most of my clients say that I feel like "talking to a real person." I developed my style by working with university students on a number of campuses who taught me to drop the artificial formalities, ask deeper questions, be upfront with my care, and say what I mean. In general, I start from the standpoint that anyone seeking therapy has come by their pain honestly and that much of what folx find distressing in themselves is a reasonable response to what has happened to them. Thus, I am unlikely to give rote advice and more likely to partner with you in unpacking your past, exploring your feelings, reaching creative solutions, and lifting what's blocking you from moving toward your version of the good life. In terms of specialties, I help students work through the kinds of relationship troubles (family, romantic, friendships etc) that leave people feeling lonely, anxious, inadequate, seeking approval, depressed, misunderstood, self-critical, or slow to let others in. Queer folx, Student Veterans, adult children of alcoholics, overachievers, burnt out students, undergrad, law, medical, and grad students, young professionals, and folks in creative fields have found me helpful. Importantly, for therapy to be a liberating space, people need the freedom to talk about how their lives are shaped by their sociocultural identities as well as corresponding experiences of prejudice, marginalization, and erasure. Conversations about politics, class, race, religion, gender, sexuality and all the "isms" are fair game and also integral to figuring out how to live with more ease in these difficult times.

Hello! Thank you for reading my page. I tend to work with clients who are struggling with their relationships (Friends, family or romantic) or are looking to better understand themselves. My clients tend to be insightful, creative & perhaps a bit perfectionistic. They are looking to better understand themselves and let go of unhelpful learnings or patterns in their lives, so they can feel happier and less overwhelmed.
