Are you struggling? Is your mental health struggles getting in the way of your academic performance or social relationships? If so, I would love to help! I have over 19 years experience and 8 of those were at University Counseling Centers. I have worked both at the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University. Counseling can be intimidating and I believe that creating a trusting therapeutic relationship is a vital part of making it feel more comfortable. I work hard to collaborate with you- I listen to what is going on and has been getting in the way of being the best version of you. Together we will develop treatment goals to help you get back to a great place. I am passionate about working with people who are struggling with identity concerns, anxiety, depression, parenting concerns, interpersonal/relationship concerns, self-esteem, stress management, substance use concerns or trying to recover from a history of trauma. I utilize an integrative approach through a multicultural lens in my work meeting the client where they are at and learning about their goals, strengths and struggles that they want to overcome. I love to use a strength based approach that is client centered and solution focused. I am passionate about integrating physical exercise and skill building into treatment to help with sustainability of progress. Lastly, from my experience, clients who do the best in treatment are ones who do work outside of our appointments to apply and utilize the skills/resources we are discussing.
Hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm so glad you're here. I love supporting students of all ages and young adults in graduate school, college, and high school, as you're navigating through life transitions, relationships, and mental health challenges. I have worked at many college counseling centers and know how important and intense these years are for students. I work to provide a safe, collaborative landing space for you to find your voice; learn new ways of being, with yourself and with others; process pain and loss; manage and understand your anxiety and feel empowered and grounded in your life. I approach therapy from a humanist and relational orientation that focuses on your individual strengths. I often help clients with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, family relationships, identity development, work/school-life balance, ADHD/ADD, self-esteem, sexual identity, relationships, and grief. I'm also passionate about helping clients who identify as motherless daughters as well as student-athletes.
You're tired of putting yourself out there and not finding your "person". You've tried multiple therapists but just can't seem to connect. And without that connection, opening up and really digging in is hard. So you remain stagnant. You want to feel safe and supported, but also want someone to finally be blunt with you about what may be holding you back--and what may actually HELP. You're tired of merely surviving--you want to FINALLY feel like you are living authentically and truly thriving. You want someone to challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone, but also make this shit a little less scary. I use humor and laughter, openness and authenticity, and most importantly, foul language, to create a safe, explorative environment where we can really dig into what has been holding you back--together. I can be direct and to the point, and sometimes a bit crass and unconventional. But I will also be your strongest advocate and biggest cheerleader. What I love most about what I do is being able to walk alongside someone who is finding their own way, and being able to witness just how resilient our spirits can be. Asking for a little help isn't a sign of failure--it's a sign of courage. And a sign of a badass who refuses to get in their own way. Reach out to see if we may be a good fit! Let's do this! Open Space CCW is a LGBTQIA+ and relationship minority affirming group practice whose mission is to help people move from merely surviving their lives, to truly thriving.
I work with students who have experienced traumas and are finding it difficult to sleep or function in school as a result of stress or anxiety. I also work with students who feel uneasy in social situations, or have expectations of themselves that are difficult to maintain. Reach out and talk with me about how I can help.

Hi. I'm Dana! My clients are highly motivated folx who just want to feel better - whether that is from something they have been struggling with for a long time or something new that has come up. I help my clients live their life more authentically, manage their own mental health, and work through stress and burnout that gets in their way. Whether you feel misunderstood, stuck, or just have trouble trying to become your own person, I'm here to support you on the path to making things make sense.
My expertise is in supporting people living with depression, anxiety, and the after-effects of traumatic interpersonal experiences at work, school, religious institutions, and in families. We all need a safe base to connect to. I trust that people know what they need. I respect the courage it takes to express those needs and work towards meeting them. I'm warm, present, direct, and playful to interact with. I can help you connect with yourself and others, mindfully ease into your body, and approach yourself gently. I use my experience from careers as in Education, Neuropsychology Research, Clinical Healthcare, Nonprofit Leadership, and Technology Start-ups to support people in the challenge of life and career transitions. B.S. Biology, M.S. Counseling Psychology. I’m trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through Behavioral Tech & WPIC Bellefield Clinic, Functional Analytic Psychotherapy through the University of Washington, Infant Mental Health through Chatham University, Social Innovation Design through University of Pennsylvania, and Environmental Ed through Grove City College.
I work with individuals 18 years old and above who are struggling with depression or anxiety. I can support you to change behaviors to feel better, change patterns of thinking to improve your feelings, develop closer and more satisfying relationships, and much more. I use approaches that have been shown to be effective such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. As a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, I conducted research specific to the mental health of teenagers. I also have extensive experience working with LGBT individuals. Our first meeting would be a chance for me to really understand why you want therapy, for us to develop goals together (Note: My clients often begin developing goals by thinking about "If we are successful working together in therapy, how would you and your life be different?"), and for you to determine if therapy with me is a "good fit."

My therapeutic approach is relational, solution-focused, multiculturally informed, and evidence-based. I believe that cultivating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment is the foundation for therapeutic outcomes. With a CBT- and DBT- informed approach, my clients utilize therapy to explore long-standing problems, navigate current stressors, and work on more effective ways to manage mental health symptoms.
