Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
Everyone reaches a point in life when they need to make a change. Sometimes we feel stuck and need perspective in finding our own strengths and some new resources. I am in this work because I believe in change and that in pain, there is room for growth and reconnection with what feels most important. Finding a way to work through a traumatic experience, a stressful life transition or confronting long-time challenges can be an overwhelming task. I can join you in the effort. In meeting primarily with individuals, I approach this work with honesty, humility and warmth with the broader goal of providing empirically sound, non-judgmental therapeutic support.

I approach therapy with a client-centered framework to let you determine what path your journey is taking. We will create a relationship together where I can be your mirror and reflect your innate wisdom that life's stress and trauma has obscured. Lasting change is created through this empowerment that gives you the strength and awareness to deepen personal resilience. I blend a model of evidence-based therapeutic techniques with non-traditional spiritual knowledge and practices like mindfulness. Through compassion, present-moment focus, and somatic guidance, I offer support unique to what you need for your individual situation. I specialized in working with those with chronic pain, illness, and health concerns, but also have particular attunement to those with trauma and PTSD. I offer an integrative, mind-body approach which utilizes methods like ACT, MBSR, MBCT, and DBT. Together we can tailor an environment of safety and stability where you can start your healing and growth.

I believe in a fully integrated approach to psychotherapy, understanding that each individual has a unique healing journey. I strive to create a supportive environment that honors the mind, body, and spirit, and to address all aspects of a person, including underlying psychological, spiritual, and even physical contributors to distress. My aim is to facilitate a holistic understanding of your experiences and promote emotional transformation for self-growth. Through an approach that emphasizes compassion and non-judgment, I seek to create a safe space where you can explore your feelings, beliefs, and experiences without fear of criticism or rejection. I work with many college students who are needing some support, guidance, and tools that can help them navigate their current life situation. I personally understand, from my own experience at college, some of the challenges and difficulties that can arise, so there is a lot of compassion and understanding for what you may be experiencing. I also have experience working with local students at CU. College can be exciting, fresh, and new. At the same, it puts us in completely new surroundings and situations. Overwhelm is natural. To any student who is considering therapy, I hope you know that overwhelm doesn't mean that something has gone wrong. It's normal when there are so many big changes taking place. My job is primarily to listen to you, and to really try to understand things from your perspective. This in itself is quite relieving: to be heard, seen, and understood. There's no reason for you to feel completely alone and isolated in your experience. Above all, you will find a supportive space in my practice for you to be at ease and be yourself. There are many wonderful counselors out there, and many not-so-good ones. My strong advice to you is to find a therapist who you really like, and don't stop looking for one until you find them. Before and during my own college experience, I had visited several counselors who I didn't have a real connection with. It wasn't until I was 22 that I found a counselor who I really connected with. Counseling should be a very positive experience. It is a huge resource in life. Trust yourself about what feels good to you - and go for it!

We are starving to discover the truth, to show the world who we really are, and we need to have our truth held with compassion. We all want to experience being fully seen. We want to feel connected to others. Sadly, many of us don’t often experience being seen in a non-judgmental light. My strength as a therapist is in my capacity to recognize your preciousness and your capacity for wholeness, while helping you to align with your truth. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups to heal past wounds and evolve out of patterns of self-sabotage. Throughout our work I will support you in cultivating self-compassion, resilience and empowerment. I focus on the impact of trauma, and a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, insomnia, personality disorders, eating disorders and chronic pain issues. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship, my clients and I co-create a foundation which allows clients to hone into their intuition, improve their relationships, decrease emotional suffering, and increase their overall joy. I use a mindfulness-body-centered approach, integrating many modalities, cultural responsiveness and evidenced-based research.

My goal for therapy is to work towards helping my clients find the strength and resilience needed to get through what life brings to the table. I am a certified EMDR therapist, though I use multiple therapeutic approaches with each client and tailor therapy to each individual's needs. I take great pride in building a strong therapeutic relationship with the clients I see, as I believe that is the foundation of therapy! I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families as a whole. I love watching people grow throughout the therapeutic process, whether that entails mending strained relationships, working through trauma(s), embarking on a new journey, or finding personal strength. My passion to help others is what motivates me daily. It may be nerve wracking, overwhelming, and/or slightly uncomfortable, but just know that I am here to help, however I can. It can seem like a challenge to find a good therapist, but it is absolutely worth it to push forward until you find the best fit for you.
